Dr. Vilcek has dedicated his entire career to pioneering studies of soluble mediators that regulate the immune system. In collaboration with Dr. Junming Le and Centecor Inc. Dr. Vilcek developed Remicade®, a powerful anti-inflammatory used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease and other inflammatory diseases. Dr. Vilcek also recently donated $105 million to the New York University School of Medicine, the largest gift ever made to the school and possibly the largest philanthropic gift from an active faculty member to an a academic medical center.
