Alumni Network Vision Statement
The Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry Program Alumni Network, led by the Alumni Network Executive Committee (ANEC), promotes the professional career development of its alumni by fostering impactful interactions and forging meaningful relationships with bioscience industry professionals through academic, social and professional events.
Alumni Network Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a framework within which alumni can reap the benefits and opportunities that positively impact their careers and the bioscience community. We fulfill this mission by developing strategic infrastructure and supporting partnerships that help promote interactions between industry professionals, alumni, and current students. We aim to actively attract highly qualified candidates to the Fundamentals program and to support their continued career development as alumni of the program.

The Alumni Network Executive Committee (ANEC)
The ANEC members hold key leadership positions and will work closely with the Center for Biotechnology to achieve the vision and mission.
The Executive Committee will be involved in, but not limited to, the following activities:
1. Industry Outreach
2. Bioscience Professional Development Track held at the Annual Life Sciences Summit
3. Online Alumni Portfolio, Listserve and Database
4. Alumni Newsletter - Ezine
5. Networking Events
6. Information sessions
The executive committee works as a team. While there are designated job descriptions (as highlighted below) for each officer, the success of the ANEC lies in the ability of its members to step in as a group and see any project to successful completion.
Positions Available
One Year Term: June 2009- June 2010
Executive Committee comprises of 4 Official positions and committees comprised of Alumni Ambassadors
1. President
- The President is responsible for coordinating the activities of the VP’s and Alumni Ambassadors. It is the responsibility of the President, in consultation with the Center for Biotechnology, to develop the strategic objectives of the Executive Committee with the VP’s and ensure the timeliness and quality of execution of various programs, newsletters, events, and communications administered by the executive committee.
- The president is the Ambassador of the Program and its Alumni and is responsible for maintaining moral within the Executive Committee. He or she will be responsible for developing a strong relationship with alumni and helping to foster alumni and industry participation by ensuring the development and execution of the Executive Committee’s yearly agenda.
2. VP, Communications and Public Relations
- This position is responsible for all outreach and promotion for the program and alumni network. He/She publishes the alumni Ezine (quarterly newsletter), coordinates the Annual Call for Applications and works with other VPS to ensure that their communication needs are met. The VP is also responsible for ensuring that alumni contacts are accurate and up to date on Linked-In and other group portals. The VP looks for creative ways to promote the program via online blogs, forums and other new media sources.
3. VP, Industry Relations
- The Vice President of Industry Relations responsible for forging relationships between industry professionals and the alumni. The VP does this through various avenues, both professional networking events and informal ones. These activities include organizing the Annual Career Conference, and other networking events like Fundamentals Annual Christmas Party etc.
4. VP, Alumni Relations
- The VP Alumni Relations is responsible for supporting and promoting interactions between Alumni. Activities may the Annual Graduation Reception, Annual Alumni Special Event, Peer Partner Program.
- The VP Alumni Relations works closely with the VP Industry Relations and Center for Biotechnology to support a mentoring program for industry and alumni.
* Each of the VPs will chair a committee comprising of Alumni Ambassadors (alumni and current students). Applications for Alumni Ambassadors positions will be held by the new 2008 ANEC.

The position of President can be held by an alumni or current student.
