2005 Life Sciences Industry Summit Convenes

STONY BROOK, NY, Wed, Apr 6, 2005 — Key executives
from New York’s life sciences industry will gather
to address a series of critical issues at a summit meeting
designed to explore and organize around topics of strategic
importance to the Industry. The 2005 Life Sciences Industry
Summit –Assets and Opportunities, to be held on Thursday,
May 5th from 8 AM to 5:00 PM at the Hilton Huntington Hotel,
is expected to attract 300 senior industry executives from
throughout the tri-state region.
Highlights of the meeting will include an opening plenary
on “Personalized Medicine: The Emerging Pharmacogenomics
Revolution,” which will explore the impact of personalized
medicine on established and emerging industry, government
policy, and patients. The luncheon plenary will feature
Richard Preston, Ph.D., the best-selling author of “The
Demon in the Freezer,” “The Cobra Event”
and “The Hot Zone” and leading authority on
biological terrorism. Dr. Preston’s critically acclaimed
books have proven his status as a first rate investigative
journalist and gifted storyteller and put him in the forefront
of the emerging diseases and biotechnology arenas. The 2005
Summit will close with a keynote address by Dr. Neil Gibson,
Senior Vice President for Research, OSI Pharmaceuticals
who will discuss the revolutionary direction that cancer
therapeutics will take in the 21st century.
Attendees at the 2005 Summit will participate in a day
long event with more than 50 distinguished speakers in spirited
presentations and discussions covering topics in business
development, financing, intellectual property, workforce
development and public policy. Additional sessions will
include the Investor Roundtable, Emerging Technology Showcase
and Emerging Company Showcase.
