2008 Life Sciences Summit - A Resounding Success!
The 2008 Life Sciences Summit, held June 5, 2008 at the Hilton Long Island, co-hosted by the Center for Biotechnology and the Long Island Life Sciences Initiative (LILSI), was a resounding success.
The summit boasted 5 concurrent panel sessions, 3 keynote speakers, a career fair hosted by Naturejobs, and a closing reception. The event attracted approximately 330 attendees and 30 sponsors interested in the long-term growth and sustainability of the bioscience community in the region. Opus Scientific hosted the Human Resources track, and the alumni of the Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry program coordinated the BioProfessional Development track and new for 2008 was the addtion of the Translational Research track.
An important outcome of the annual Life Sciences Summit is harnessing the energy and excitement that permeates the event in an effort to attract additional financial resources, goodwill and political capital to support our efforts to make Long Island and New York State a vibrant place where the bioscience community can thrive.
