Technology Development Pipeline

The Center for Biotechnology is currently involved in approximately twenty biomedical projects at different stages of development. The degree of involvement by the Center varies depending upon the technology, its stage of development, and the priorities of the faculty in moving the technology toward commercial goals. Financial investments are not intended to support basic research, but rather to translate basic research discoveries into commercially viable technologies. Center investments, while modest, can add significant value to technologies, particularly when coupled with the commercial development expertise of the Center for Biotechnology’s staff. Some technologies supported by the Center that have had significant commercial impact include:

Genetic System to Detect Protein-Protein Interactions
Stanley Fields, Ph.D., inventor
Licensed to more than 45 companies worldwide

Antisense Technology
