Obtaining Export Permits

NOTICE: New Export Permit Policy (Sept 2004)

All export permit applications should be written and addressed to Benjamin Andriamihaja (see ICTE Personnel for address) at least a month before your departure.

Your Export Permit Application needs the following information:

  1. Complete name
  2. Nationality
  3. Passport number
  4. Date and place of issue
  5. Address where sample will be exported to
  6. Sample list with the following information:
    1. species name (please mark if the species is listed in appendixes 1 or 2 of CITES or NOT)
    2. Sample types (blood, fecal, tissues, hair, herbal, plants, seeds, flowers, fruits, leaves...)
    3. Number of individuals from which samples were (or will be) taken
    4. Quantity (weight or volume)
    5. Packing
  7. List of samples (only for voucher specimens) that will be deposited in any Malagasy public institution (Animal Biology, Paleontology, or Botany Department, PBZT,...).

Exportation of live animals or plants (except seeds) is not accepted by Malagasy Government.


50% of voucher samples should be deposited in a Malagasy Public Institution like any Department at the University, Parc Botanique et Zoologique de Tsimbazaza (PBZT)..
