Tsinjoarivo Forest Fragments Project. |

Research Focus:
|
My PhD project had four major objectives:
(1) to investigate the botanical and microclimatic effects
of fragmentation on the rainforest at Tsinjoarivo, (2) to
investigate the effects of forest fragmentation on nine sympatric
primate species by examining their patterns of incidence in
37 forest fragments of varying size, shape and isolation,
(3) to investigate the ecological effects of forest fragmentation
on one lemur species (the diademed sifaka, Propithecus
diadema) by comparing its diet and behavior at fragmented
and non-fragmented sites, and (4) to identify the patterns
of forest exploitation practiced by local people at Tsinjoarivo,
and investigate their effects on the primate community. |
