Ph.D. Thesis: Impact of Ranomafana National Park
on Living Conditions of Local People - Perceptions of Living Environment and Life Security.
The study will explore the possible changes happened in living conditions (both material and social)
of local people due the RNP. The focus in the study is on reproductive issues, experienced changes
and “life security”. As well, educational issues and participation on project activities will be
studied. Methods include e.g. key persons interviews, observation in villages, local statistical
information, project documents and follow-up studies, school children’s writings and focus group
discussions. The research strategy is comparative as the villages in and out of peripheral zone
are investigated. The field work will be carried out in three periods during 2001-2003.
