Ongoing Research The research program of ICTE is broad and ambitious in scope. Most of the research in which we are involved contributes to the understanding of tropical rain forests througout the world and provides needed information on the endangered biodiversity of Madagascar. Specific projects include plant and animal systematics, focal studies of important and at-risk species, and community-level studies. Various studies include stream ecosystem function, leaf litter community dynamics, seed-dispersal, pollination, and predation studies in birds, primates, and other mammals. Duration of research ranges from brief studies by students attending field courses, medium-length studies conducted by Ph.D. students and visiting professors, through to long-term research and monitoring projects.
