Identification

A small mongoose with a blunt face, and an obvious white tail. The body color is grey-beige, even the underparts. The top of the head is darker than the cheeks. There are dark brown stripes along the sides.

Almost never seen, try along the road between the park entrance and Ranomafana.

They prey almost entirely on small vertebrates (Garbutt, 1999).

They are nocturnal, foraging on the ground.
