Initially described from north-west Madagascar in a region where Microcebus murinus is also found. It's body length and weight are approximately the same as that of M. murinus, while the tail is longer and thinner. Most measurements differed between them and M. rufus. No obvious sexual dimorphism was found. Females went into oestrous a month earlier (late August) than did M. murinus (Sept). They appear more active and more aggressive, but good studies have not been done.
